Kenya’s first national conference dedicated to community-led conservation takes place from 2 to 6 November 2026 at Brackenhurst Conference Centre in Limuru, just outside Nairobi. MSWC contributed funding for the conference organization.
The gathering will bring together community leaders from across Africa, conservation practitioners, policymakers, funders and international partners, with 150 to 200 participants expected. A core principle of the conference is that communities will not just participate but actively shape and lead the agenda, through keynote addresses, panel discussions, thematic workshops and community-led storytelling sessions.
The conference will launch a community-led conservation framework, share best practices and innovations, strengthen networks between community conservation leaders, NGOs and policymakers, and identify pathways for sustainable financing of community-led initiatives.
