Kenya’s first national conference dedicated to community-led conservation takes place from 3 to 5 November 2026 at Brackenhurst Conference Centre in Limuru, just outside Nairobi, with participants arriving on 2 November. MSWC contributed funding for the conference organization.
The gathering will bring together community leaders from across Africa, conservation practitioners, policymakers, funders and international partners, with 150 to 200 participants expected. A core principle of the conference is that communities will not just participate but actively shape and lead the agenda, through keynote addresses, panel discussions, thematic workshops and community-led storytelling sessions.
The conference will launch a community-led conservation framework, share best practices and innovations, strengthen networks between community conservation leaders, NGOs and policymakers, and identify pathways for sustainable financing of community-led initiatives.
