Charles Senkondo

Mr Charles Yonazi Senkondo is a senior management, leadership and governance professional with extensive experience in organisational leadership, strategic management, institutional development, capacity building, stakeholder engagement and the coordination of complex, multi-sectoral initiatives.

Over the course of his career, he has provided leadership to organisations and programmes involving government institutions, international development partners, academic institutions, professional bodies and civil society organisations. His experience includes strategic planning, organisational transformation, programme management, partnership development, resource mobilisation, stakeholder coordination and the development of institutional capacity.

Mr Senkondo served as Executive Director of the Tanzania Global Learning Agency (TaGLA), a Government Executive Agency responsible for capacity development through innovative learning approaches and technology-enabled knowledge sharing. Prior to this, he served as Executive Director of the Tanzania Global Development Learning Centre (TGDLC), where he led initiatives involving leadership development, knowledge sharing, learning technologies and international collaboration.

He has also held management and leadership responsibilities in a range of organisations, including the African Virtual University at the Open University of Tanzania, as well as gaining earlier experience in the management of manufacturing industries. His professional experience has given him a broad understanding of organisational management, operational leadership, institutional development and the importance of effective governance.

Mr Senkondo is a founding member of the Association of African Distance Learning Centres (AADLC). Having served the Association for many years in leadership roles, he continues to support its mission as a founding member.

His current professional interests include leadership and management development, corporate governance, organisational culture, emotional intelligence, institutional capacity building and sustainable development. He is particularly interested in supporting initiatives that combine sound management, community participation, environmental stewardship and long-term sustainability.

Mr Senkondo has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Engineering Management from City University, London, and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Chemical and Process Engineering from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He is also a Certified Director and a Genos Certified Emotional Intelligence Practitioner.
