What We Do

Effective wildlife conservation requires more than passion—it demands strong leadership, financial management, organizational skills, and conflict resolution at the grassroots level. That’s where MSWC comes in.

Through our Leadership and Management Program (LAMP), we equip community-based conservation practitioners with the tools to lead, manage, and conserve effectively. Delivered in local languages and rooted in the realities of wildlife communities, LAMP empowers practitioners to turn dedication into impact. MSWC is committed to demonstrating—and scaling—the power of this approach.

Area of Practice

Training Leaders in Conservation

In partnership with local and international organizations, MSWC has supported the training of more than 1,000 practitioners across Kenya, Tanzania, Namibia, and Uganda.

Expanding Local Capacity

A three-year training-of-trainers initiative grew our faculty from a single expatriate instructor to six Kenyan leaders who now deliver the LAMP in their native languages.

Evaluating Impact

We are conducting a rigorous evaluation of LAMP to measure outcomes and continuously strengthen the program.

Telling the Story

MSWC is producing a professional documentary to share the stories of practitioners and the real-world impact of their training.

Building a Global Network

Plans are underway to grow a LAMP alumni platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration.

Support for Conference on Wildlife Conservation

Bringing together professionals in wildlife conservation.

1 in every 12 jobs in Kenya is linked to wildlife.

– The nature conservancy

Many of the leaders and staff of wildlife conservancies and the philanthropies that fund them are steeped in natural sciences such as zoology and environmental science. Few have business or management backgrounds. Yet few organizations pose more diverse managerial challenges than community-led wildlife conservancies.

Help Us Strengthen Community-Led Conservation

Since its inception, MSWC has supported dozens of conservancies and community leaders across East Africa, building stronger governance systems, improved resource management, and inclusive participation in conservation decision-making.

Through our work, communities are not just protecting wildlife—they are building sustainable livelihoods, enhancing cooperation across regions, and creating a legacy of leadership for future generations.

Invest in Grassroots Leadership for Conservation

Help a local conservationist join the LAMP program and gain the skills to lead change from the ground up. Together, we can build stronger communities and a thriving natural world.
